Most striking is the spacious climate controlled salon that opens directly to a protected cockpit area. With the double sliding doors open, the main living area naturally expands to the outside world. Here, under the protective roof, is the perfect place for your favorite teak or wicker yacht furniture. The roof also extends over the side decks to provide additional protection from the sun or rain, making the Europa especially attractive for the tropics or where the weather is often wet and damp.
Down below the Europa offers two private staterooms both are air conditioned (reverse cycle heat or air) and one large head with a separate stall shower with  teak grate floor. The luxurious owner's stateroom is forward and features queen size island bed. A large opening Bomar hatch ensures excellent ventilation, especially when at anchor. The port side guest cabin is offered with double berth and an upper single berth  and is complete with a hanging locker.

Forward and to port of the Salon is the U-shaped galley offering the chef plenty of space to prepare gourmet meals or to just whip up a quick meal for the family.

Cummins Diamond Series 6BT 5.9 330hp

Cummins 6BT5.9 330B

The B series is one of the most popular diesel engines in the world. With over a million B series installed in a wide variety of applications, success starts with an advanced yet simple design. That's why B series engines have 40% fewer parts than competitive engines. Fewer parts mean theres less to go wrong.. Less to service or replace. The result is a strong running reliable engine that produces incredible performance. Cummins 6BTA 5.9L diesel engines produce 330 brake horsepower a wide open throttle (2800 rpm)

  • Bosch P7100 in-line fuel pump produces high injection pressures for for greater performance.
  • RQVK governor provides stable lower idle speeds for quieter smoother operation
  • A five hole injector features optimized cone angle and mini sac design for higher fuel efficiency and decreased smoke
  • 6 cylinder four stroke diesel
  • 4.02 Bore & 4.74 Stroke create 359 cu inches or 5.9L
  • Turbocharged and aftercooled
  • 1225 lbs each without transmissions
  • Larger threads on the injector holders add strength
  • A viscous damper increases gear train durability
  • Twin Disc transmissions
  • Holset turbocharger features a modified turbine wheel for better low rpm acceleration
  • Pump mounted lift pump increases durability/ reliability
  • Torque control cam plate allows shaping for optimum acceleration with limited smoke
  • Dual Ni-Resist pistons deliver maximum strength
  • Raised piston top ring and full keystone plasma coating for top and mid ring add durability
  • Longer piston pin increases load bearing capability
  • Cam gear made of high grade steel bolts directly to the camshaft for maximum strength
  • State of the art gear couplings ensure lower vibration and gear noise at idle

Electrical System

The "user friendly" AC DC electrical system is color coded and numbered to enable an installer or repair person to add equipment or trace down a electrical challenge easily.

The Grand Banks 42 Europa is a stunningly handsome boat with ideal proportions. The history of the 42 Europa began very quietly in the late 60's with the development of the Sedan configuration of the 32, 36 & 42. By using the 42 Sedan as the basic deck layout (and a few inches to lengthen the salon) the overhangs were added to the sidedecks and cockpit thus transforming the sedan into the Europa. The 42 Europa was introduced in 1971/72 with limited production. Initially the Europa was up against a very popular Tri-Cabin or Classic design that was dominant in the 70's and 80's and because of this the Europa sales were slow in the beginning however the few that were built have always been highly sought after on the used market. It's interesting that many 42 Europa owners were previous GB Thirty-Two Sedan owners that just wanted a bigger version of there beloved little GB and the 42 was a logical step. The 42 Sedan/ Europa sales were quiet in comparison to the Classic throughout the 70'& early 80's and it was eventually put on sabbatical in 1991. Then in 1992 the NEW 42 hull was re-introduced with six inches wider and longer hull #1204 was launched however the Europa would not be ready until 1997 with #1376. With a 6" wider & longer hull, molded fiberglass stairs to flybridge, a standard island bed in the master stateroom and a transom door. Numerous other improvements were built in the new model and propelled the Europa design to the top of the fleet for the last ten years.
