C. Raymond Hunt Design
  • Sharp entry forward keeps pounding to a minimum
  • No deep forefoot to cause bow steering and/ or broaching
  • V-shape is carried all the way to the transom, which results in a stable platform
  • Design factors make the hull travel straight over seas with moderate steering effort
  • Handling characteristics are a major safety advantage when running down waves or entering rough inlets
  • A high chine forward and spray strips knock down spray, adds lift and reduces wetted surface
  • Dry boat, reduced resistance, greater speed and increased economy
  • A widely flared forward topsides creates buoyancy and reduces the potential for burying the bow
  • At planing speeds hull gains stability and minimizes rolling
  • High-dead rise V- shape is inherently more stable.
  • The V shape allows the hull to bank in a turn, not roll outward like a round or flat bottomed hull.
  • At displacement speeds the deep v hull has more draft than the typical planing hull, so it behaves more like a displacement hull

In a world that's two thirds liquid you need a rock solid engine. There's a lot of history inherent in every Cat engine. It's a history of over 75 years of diesel engine progress. Caterpillar engine development is about tighter tolerances, advanced materials, and sophisticated component designs that maximize combustion efficiency. There's a lot of value in Cat engines. And no matter how many technical advances are incorporated, Caterpillar has always stayed true to the basic advantages of diesel power: higher power, lower fuel consumption, reliability, durability, and ease of service.
